As a Respiratory Registered Nurse (RN), you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality respiratory care to patients with respiratory disorders.
Working collaboratively with the healthcare team, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to ensure optimal respiratory function and patient comfort.

Key
Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment:
Conduct thorough respiratory assessments, including medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests, to determine the nature and severity of respiratory conditions.
Treatment Planning:
Develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans based on assessment findings, medical orders, and evidence-based practices.
Respiratory Interventions:
Administer and monitor respiratory care treatments, medications, and therapies as prescribed, including oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy, tracheostomy care and assessments, mechanical ventilation.
Patient Education:
Educate patients and their families about respiratory conditions, treatment options, and self-management techniques to promote independence and optimal respiratory health.
Monitoring:
Continuously monitor and assess patient responses to respiratory interventions, documenting changes in condition and reporting any concerns to the healthcare team.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients with respiratory disorders.
Equipment Management:
Maintain and operate respiratory equipment and devices, ensuring they are in good working order and adhering to infection control protocols.
Emergency Response:
Respond to respiratory emergencies, including code situations, by providing immediate life-saving interventions and support.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessments, care plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Compliance:
Adhere to all regulatory requirements, including state nursing practice acts and hospital policies, to ensure safe and ethical respiratory nursing practice.
Quality Improvement:
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of respiratory care protocols and guidelines.
Qualifications:
Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Certification in Respiratory Nursing or Critical Care Nursing is a plus.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required, depending on the facility.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and critical thinking abilities.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods and lift/move heavy objects.
Manual dexterity and visual acuity for equipment operation and patient care.
Ability to work irregular hours and respond to emergencies as needed.
