Job Description:
Major Purpose:
Provides support for and/or assistance with products or engineering processes.
Technicians at this level typically perform basic and routine tests using existing procedures for process control and failure analysis.
May provide routine analysis for materials, manufacturing processes and methods, and may provide guidance on test procedures to support personnel.
Major DutiesMaintain and repair plant and machinery under close supervision to ensure that operational requirements are met, including conformance with regulatory and organizational health, safety, and environmental standards.
Carry out standard installation activities under detailed guidance.
Troubleshoot basic technical or operational problems by applying previously defined solutions.
Perform a broad range of tests requiring detailed assessment, measurement, and judgment.
Extract relevant data from information provided by others, and input it into spreadsheets or standard formats.
Extract simple/automatic data in various forms (graphs, charts, etc.
) to include in reports.
Support others by carrying out simple product development or engineering tasks, such as gathering data or preparing documents.
Involves following established procedures.
Assess compliance with established standards and protocols for routine inquiries.
Support project managers by performing simple tasks.
Involves following established procedures.
Organize own work schedule in order to get the job done, coordinating with support services and assigning short-term tasks to others if necessary.
Develop and maintain excellent process or technical skills by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching.

Responsibilities:
Follow test plans established by Materials Engineers, ensuring efficient and accurate execution of materials testing processes that meet the customer's needs.
Perform routine materials testing using established procedures and techniques to ensure product quality and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
Assist the Materials Engineers in the preparation of detailed technical reports based on materials testing results, outlining findings and recommendations.
Operate and calibrate analytical equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
Maintain lab equipment, tools, and supplies, ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
Assist the Materials Engineer with troubleshooting and resolving materials-related issues.
Maintain accurate documentation of experiments, results, and analyses, and support the Materials Engineers in presenting findings to stakeholders.
Adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
Continuously improve lab processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and quality.
Minimum
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in a related field is a plus.
Prior experience working in a materials engineering lab or similar environment.
Familiarity with materials testing equipment and methods.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periodsAdditional Note:
We are seeking a contingent Lab Technician to support our Metallurgical Lab team, working closely with the Materials Engineers.
The successful candidate will perform a variety of materials testing, assist in the preparation of technical reports, and maintain lab equipment and supplies.
This role requires knowledge and understanding of materials testing equipment and methods, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills.
